How To Make Your Blooms Last Forever
Having flowers around is always nice, but wouldn’t it be nicer if we can keep them around just a little bit longer? Or even forever? Here’s an easy DIY Flower Art idea that will turn your favorite blooms into a wall art to keep! I love this idea for my bedroom, bathroom or the vanity. So think twice before you toss your blooms next time! Check out the tutorial below…
Materials: Flowers (the more vibrant the better, the colors will fade), heavy books, choice of paper for backdrop (watercolor, kraft or construction paper works well), your choice of frame, and adhesive (optional)
Instruction: 1. Put flowers in a book for a few days. Flatter flowers (such as ranunculus, sweetpeas, larkspurs, etc.) takes 1-2 days. Fuller flowers (such as roses, peonies, etc.) takes a few more days. Leave the book in a cool, shady spot. Don’t expose the flowers to direct sunlight because the colors will fade faster.
2. After the flowers have been pressed, transfer them on to your choice of paper. Arrange them but make sure that you really like the layout because you can’t remove them after gluing/taping them to the paper. The flower petals are extremely delicate after they’re dried out and removing them will rip the petals/ruin the shape of the flowers.
3. Put in frame or leave as it is. I do recommend putting them in frames so they last longer.
